Eric
Brown -
Chief
Operating Officer
Eric Brown is a15 year veteran of
the cable television industry with a rare blend of senior level
experience in cable network affiliate relations and experience in
multiple cable system marketing and operations. Most recently Eric
served as Executive Vice President for Herring Broadcasting’s
WealthTV, a luxury lifestyle cable network where he helped revamp
the programming and marketing offerings that delivered a 160% increase
in viewership during 2009.
Prior to WealthTV, Eric was Executive Vice President of Marketing
and Sales for The Africa Channel, where he was instrumental in expanding
the channel’s distribution with cable operators serving major
media markets including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and San Francisco.
Prior to joining The Africa Channel,
Eric served as President of Western Division Operations for Charter
Communications where he had responsibility for operations serving
over 1.2 million customers in six states with annual revenues exceeding
$1.2 billion. He also served as President of the Minnesota Division
of Time Warner Cable, and has held various senior marketing and
operations positions with Time Warner Cable, Century Communications,
Times Mirror Cable Television and Digital Music Express.
In addition to his cable industry
experience, Brown worked for Landmark Communications, parent company
of The Weather Channel, where he served as President of its Education
Services Division and as New Ventures Director coordinating mergers
and acquisitions. He has extensive experience in consumer brand
management with a variety of consumer product companies, including
The Procter & Gamble Company, H.J. Heinz, and Bumble Bee Seafoods.
A board member of the National Association
for Multi-Ethnicity in Communications (NAMIC) Foundation, Brown
was one of the founding members of the Minnesota chapter. Brown
is also the past Chairman of the California Cable and Telecommunications
Association (CCTA). He is a recipient of the prestigious National
Cable & Telecommunications Association Vanguard Award for excellence
in cable operations and the cable industry’s CTAM Chairman’s
Award for excellence in cable marketing.
A graduate of the University of California
at Los Angeles (UCLA) with a Bachelor’s degree in Political
Science, Brown was a four time All-American in track and field,
and also played football at UCLA. He earned a Master’s degree
in Business Administration from the Darden School of Business Management
at the University of Virginia, and has completed post-graduate work
including the NAMIC Executive Leadership Development Program (ELDP)
at the Anderson Graduate School of Management at UCLA, and the CTAMU
Marketing Executive Education Program at the Harvard Business School.
