ESP President
Everett Glenn and CEO Curtis Brown joined networking guru George
Fraser and hundreds of Black professionals, business owners and
community leaders from across the country at the 7th Annual National
PowerNetworking Conference in Atlanta, GA.
The FraserNet PowerNetworking Conference is the largest gathering
of Black professionals, business owners and community in the United
States. The theme of this year’s conference was “Clicking…Access
to Power, Providing Keys, and Unlocking Doors.” Participants
at 7th Annual Conference received world-class training from the
best of the best minds and scholars in Black America, gained professional
growth and development training--geared towards leveraging Black
America's tremendous resources and intellectual capital, and met
key people from major corporations who embrace diversity including,
but not limited to, Anheuser-Busch, AT&T, Delta Airlines, Exxon
Mobil, Ford Motors, Home Depot and The Coca-Cola Company.
Keynote speakers for the 4-day conference were Dr. Myles Munroe,
Founder, President, and Senior Pastor of Bahamas Faith Ministries
International, and a multi-gifted international motivational speaker,
best selling author and business consultant, who brought a message
entitled “Servant Leadership in the 21st Century, and “In
The Spirit’s Susan L. Taylor who spoke about
the ESSENCE CARES initiative, a call to action to the African American
community that asks every able adult and our leadership—elected
and appointed officials, educators, business, religious and secular
leaders and college students—to rally their communities to
guide and secure our vulnerable children who are crying out for
help. The goal is to create the largest mentoring campaign in the
history of the nation and increase high school graduation rates
among African American students by 10 percent annually.
ESP President Everett L. Glenn moderated a Power
Panel entitled “Leveraging Athletic Talent for Lifetime Success”
which included 16-year NBA performer Dale Davis,
founder of Pro Player Holdings, a private equity investment fund
with an asset base pooled by more than 70 of his colleagues in professional
sports; 10-year NFL performer Jamir Miller, founder
of Hosanna Foods, a joint venture with Café Valley Bakery,
a leading manufacturer of a line of 24 high-quality frozen and partially-baked
products sold throughout the US; former New Jersey Net Tate
George, President, CEO and Chairman of The George Group
which has developed a real estate portfolio of more than $500 million;
and Carter Drew, principal and co-founder of Carter
& Reynolds an executive development, coaching and life strategy
firm that specializes in coaching business executives, organizational
leaders, and high-potential candidates involved in high-stakes business
endeavors that require new leadership skills, accelerated learning,
or “stretch” corporate competencies, in order to achieve
desired business results. Speaking to a standing-room only crowd,
the panelists discussed strategies to help more professional athletes
make informed decisions, lead victorious lives, and achieve life
sustaining results…how to provide professional athletes with
the resources and tools to walk away from the game with the financial
resources to support their lifestyle goals and objectives on a long-term
basis.
Once again the highlight of the Conference was the Brain Share Celebrity
Auction. This unique event raises money for full scholarships to
selected Black college students to attend the PowerNetworking Conference…to
provide them with access they would normally not have, to meet,
greet and connect with Black America’s top corporate executives,
entrepreneurs and business leaders.
This year Brain Share Auction raised over $100,000 in scholarship
funds and included:
- An all-expense paid trip to Los Angeles
to attend the NAACP Image Awards including VIP credentials and
access.
- An all-expense paid trip provided by Dwayne
Wade of the Miami Heat to join Dwayne and Alonzo Mourning at
the 12th annual “Zo’s Summer Groove” in Miami,
a 5-day community event sponsored by Alonzo Mourning of the
Miami Heat.
- An all-expense paid trip provided by In
The Spirit’s Susan Taylor to join her for weekend in the
Hamptons.
- An all-expense paid trip to Dallas, Texas
to shadow Clovis Prince, President & CEO of Prince &
Associates, a $953 million plus minority-owned firm that provides
acquisition, engineering, construction and management –
total solution services – to the communications industry
and real estate development and renovation services nationwide.
- An all-expense trip to Nassau, Bahamas,
for dinner with Myles Munroe at Atlantis Paradise Island, a
2,300 room deluxe hotel including the world’s largest
outdoor aquarium, and private time with him at his mansion.
