Managing Partner of the Hollywood law firm Miller & Plaikas, Jini D. Thornton,
CPA and CEO of Envision Business Management Group, Bill Strickland of Blackwave
Sports, and Courtney B. Vance, actor and producer, Bassett (Angela) Vance Productions. Everett
Glenn and Tiffany Taylor of Entertainment & Sports Plus joined networking
guru George Fraser and over 1,000 Black professionals, business owners and community
leaders at the 6th Annual FraserNet PowerNetworking Conference in Atlanta, GA. The
FraserNet PowerNetworking Conference is the largest gathering of Black professionals,
business owners and community leaders from across the United States. The theme
of this year’s conference was “It’s Time to Focus – Leveraging
Our Global Resources for Building Wealth in the 21st Century.” Participants
at 6th Annual Conference received world-class training from the best of the best
minds and scholars in Black America, gained professional growth and development
training--geared towards leveraging Black America's tremendous resources and intellectual
capital, and met key people from major corporations who embrace diversity including,
but not limited to, Anheuser-Busch, AT&T, Delta Airlines, Exxon Mobil, Ford
Motors, Home Depot and The Coca-Cola Company. Keynote
speaker for the 4-day conference was Dr. Myles Munroe, Founder, President, and
Senior Pastor of Bahamas Faith Ministries International, an all-encompassing network
of ministries headquartered in Nassau, Bahamas. Dr. Munroe is a multi-gifted international
motivational speaker, best selling author and business consultant. One of the
youngest recipients of the Queen’s Birthday Honors, Officer of the British
Empire (OBE) in 1998, Dr. Munroe spoke to a standing-room only crowd with a message
that was motivational, yet biblically based, with a central theme of transformation
of followers into leaders, dealing with self-discovery, purpose and helping individuals
maximize their God-given potential. Starting
from the premise that we were all born leaders and that the leadership spirit
in an inherent human quality, Dr. Munroe provided participants with a host of
spiritual, moral and physical tools to enhance personal development and maximize
leadership potential, to assist participants in discovering their reason for existing,
maximizing their lives and inspiring future generations with a spiritual transformation
that is relevant and necessary for national, social, political and cultural development. The
highlight of the conference was the BrainShare Celebrity Auction. This unique
event raises money for full scholarships to selected Black college students to
attend the PowerNetworking Conference…to provide them with access they would
normally not have, to meet, greet and connect with Black America’s top corporate
executives, entrepreneurs and business leaders. This
year auction raised over $100,000 in scholarship funds and included:
-
An all-expense paid
trip to Los Angeles provided by Forrest Whitaker to attend the premiere of his
new movie, The Great Debaters, a drama based on the true story of Melvin B. Tolson,
a professor at Wiley College Texas who in 1935 inspired students to form the school's
first debate team, which went on to challenge Harvard in the national championship.
-

Paradise Island, a 2,300 room deluxe hotel including the world’s largest

L. Glenn, President and CEO of Entertainment & Sports Plus, was a panelist
on the Saturday Power Panel “The State of the Entertainment and Sports $
in Black America” along with Black Hollywood attorney Darrell Miller (Angela
Bassett, Ludacris, etc), Courtney B. Vance, actor and producer, Bassett Vance
